Spirits and Pregnancy
Ghosts-
If you are inclined towards seeing spirits, you might notice that more of them are flocking around your home the longer you are pregnant. This is a natural occurrence, and no, it's not in your head. The addition of new life coming into the world attracts the spirits, almost like a magnet. It's not necessarily with any intent that they come around, its just that they feel the shift in the energy, and get curious.
Activity around the home might also increase after the baby is born. In this aspect, many witches chose to make pillows, blankets, afghans, and quilts with protective symbols on them.
You might also start looking up the different properties of herbs and trees. Certain trees, when made into a broom, are swept around the babies room to give protection. Remember to keep an eye on doors, windows and hallways, as these are portals for the spirits to get through.
Energy-
If you have the 'ghosts' problem while pregnant, you might feel a bit powerless. Pregnancy is a draining time for women (and some men too!), and this applies to spiritual energy as well for some. Early pregnancy especially, within the first trimester, you will notice physical energy and spiritual energy plummeting.
- One of the ways to avoid this is BEFORE you are pregnant. The practice of storing some of your energy in a stone or talisman, ones that you work with often in magic, will help give you a boost during pregnancy. The energy stored there makes up for your current lack there-of, and because it comes from you, can be easily utilized to help cleanse your home or put up wards against the spirits.
- The second way is to rely heavily on physical materials. White sage, sea salt, and rain water are your best friends here. In my family, little ones are raised with these three things, as a sort of crutch, for cleansings. With these materials, children would perform cleansings. As adults, many of us still use them, but in a pinch, can also rely solely on our energy to remove a spirit from our house. (Though it is quite draining)
- And finally, remember you aren't alone. Other witches, priests, mediums, and your husband can all help you feel more secure in your home. If there are no witches near you, you might try finding an experience witch to cast for you from long distance. The warding runes can be placed by you around your house (or painted on windowsills and the inside edging of a door, if you are afraid of the baby getting hold of them), while the other witch energizes them to give them power. Another witch can also craft you a protective talisman, which can be hung in the babies room where they can't reach it.
